Get Involved

You've heard about the Green Dots! You've read about the Green Dots! You've seen Green Dots all over campus! Now - let us come share with you about your connection to the Green Dots!

Informational Session

After this speech, you'll leave wanting to do Green Dots immediately! You'll learn more about the Green Dot Strategy, how culture changes, contemplate your connection to the issue, be challenged to reflect on that connection and deepen your sense of community here at Gonzaga University! It's time for us to take a different approach to ending violence - and you'll want to be a part of this change!

Green Dot Program

Now that you've heard the speech and are ready to do Green Dots galore - let's brainstorm together!  We belive, and the research shows, that non-violent people outnumber violent people 20:1!  You are MOST LIKELY doing Green Dots already! Let's talk about them! Let's identify perceived high risk situations that could result in a red dot and identify realistic Green Dots we can do to help lessen the likelihood that a red dot might occur! We'll delve into the community here at Gonzaga and strengthen the bond we have as Zags!!

Bystander Training

You're in! Fully! Green Dots are the way for you! So....come join us for the next level of engagement - Bystander Training! Research shows that becoming an active bystander can be challenging.  Identifying behaviors that seem high risk and stepping in to help lessen the potential for violence can seem overwhelming, even daunting, especially if you are a non-confrontational, socially polite individual!  This training is going to ask you to step outside of your comfort zone and give you the opportunity to fine tune your skills in observation, learn about the different types of Power-Based Personal Violence, recognize more clearly perceived red dot situations and practicing Green Dot moments.  Together with your peers you will begin to challenge the status quo, you'll feel empowered that this isn't as daunting as it may seem, learn to take a second look and step up as an active bystander when the need arises!

To schedule a Green Dot Facilitator to come speak to your group, residence hall, department, or group of friends, please contact the Student Wellness Resource Center at (509) 313-5922 or greendot@gonzaga.edu
